2010 Black Lake Association Contest

The Black Lake Association has launched a 2010 Membership Drive to recruit new members to support and become involved in the activities of the Association. Anyone who has an interest in Black Lake, regardless of whether you are a property owner or not, is eligible for Association membership.

Any member who recruits a new member is eligible for a prize. This includes new members who turn around and recruit others.
  • First Prize of a Mainstream-Sound 9-foot Kayak will be awarded to the member who recruits the most new members by the end of the contest. This prize was donated by Harriet Bartlett, former President of the Black Lake Association and current Board Member.

  • Other Prizes will be donated by area businesses. As an example, Bob Jennejohn has donated a really nice wooden map of Black Lake and its islands. Other Prizes will be donated by area businesses. • Anyone who recruits "at least one new member" will be eligible for a drawing for these prizes. Your name will be entered in the drawing each time you recruit a new member. The more new members you recruit, the more times your name goes into the drawing.
The contest runs through Labor Day - September 6, 2010.

See the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION on this website. Make sure you include the name of the member who recruited you, as this enters them in the contest. If you want to be eligible for the prizes yourself, you must first become a member … and then recruit at least one new member by the end of the contest.

Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program
(C.S.L.A.P.)

This is a volunteer lake monitoring program run by the NYSDEC and NYSFOLA. Initiated in 1985, it was modeled after successful volunteer programs in Illinois, Maine, Minnesota & Vermont. Our Association has participated since 1988.

Our volunteers collect water samples & data. These samples are sent to a state-certified laboratory for analysis. The lab sends results & other lake measurements to NYSFOLA & NYSDEC.

We receive an annual report with the year's sampling results. Stored results enable comparison of historical & current data, thus allowing changes & trends in water quality to be observed & predicted for Black Lake. Ultimately C. S. L. A. P. participation provides us with a basis for understanding changes in Black Lake.
