Newbie to the site

Post by jigginmike » Tue Mar 01, 2011 1:21 pm

Saying hi to all you fellow Black Lake junkies. Have been checking this site for a while and just had to register. Been going to the lake for about 20 years now and can't get enough. Went up last year for the first time to ice fish. Got there just after the warm spell when the temps dropped back to below zero. That was an experience. Had to put our beer next to the fire just to keep it from freezing. Just curious as to the ice thickness now and is it starting to get punky? How has the fishing been? Last year we got a few perch but all small.
Anyway can't wait to get back up there, whether it be for last ice or ice out to get after those crappies. Enjoy whats left of the ice season!

Hi there jigginmike. Welcome to the board.
There is lots of ice on the lake (18 + ") Not even getting close to punky. Hard as a concrete driveway right now.
Fishing has been slow lately - hoping to get there this weekend and find some new "spots".

Thanks for the update Phil. Maybe with any luck we might get up there to get in on some late ice fishing. Even if the fishing is slow we can always get up to the Moose Club in the Burg.
