October Fishing?

I'll be coming up 2nd week of October for a weekend fishing. Ive never fished Black lake this late in the year! I was wondering, wht kind of conditions should i be expecting this time of the year? Also hows the fishing then, Ill be targeting mainly Smallies, but wouldnt mind spending some time fishing for walleye and largies. Any advice i'd appreciate.

Don't try to walk on the ice! Just kidding but it is not impossible to have ice in late October. Fishing always seems great that time of year.
