The webcams look like the snow is blowing off pretty good. Hopefully I am looking at that right.

The cams are not down - you may have a problem with a java, or other plugin, for oyur browser. What ever browser you are using, try a different one, or try getting updates for your system.

Has anyone been doing any fishing, or is it unsafe to do so?

Pretty bad, in my opinion. Was out on Saturday - less than 2" of ice outside of the bays with slush and 10-16" of snow on top. We will never build ice under that snow. We need a warmup to "fix" this. :( 3-4" in the bays but it's still sketchy. The ice is not really good.

Hi Phil,
So how was your ice fishing outing? Did you get some of those toothy fish you like to catch?
Happy New Year and thanks for all of your contributions on this board!

Saturday I drilled through 8 inches of ice in 3 holes, 5 inches in 2. Still very concerned about all the weight on top...I was tied off to a 150 foot rope. I'm off the ice now til this slush freezes up. I dont want six inch deep footprints here til spring. 33 degree temps today flattened things out a bit.

Turned around and went home when I found less than 2" of ice under all the crap. I'll be checking later in the week.

Anyone think it would be possible to walk from Black Lake Road out to Jennies/Rushbed Island on the southern most part of the lake in that area? This will be my first winter up there and don't know how that area usually compares to others in ice thickness.

Not very likely. Especially right now. You could, on a good ice year, walk out from a bit further north, cross the lake and then head south to the island. I used to get out there from the other side. Used to be Camp Wildwood. Have not been out there in quite a few years.

Thanks for the reply. Haven't been able to get out there in well over a month now. Just getting a little anxious.
