Hey, Doctor Phil,
When does the contest for first ice close?
This is serious stuff and I want that genuine certificate of accomplishment!

It's been closed. I don't know about that certificate. I think everyone's going to be late with their guesses this time around. :O

With the cold that is the forecast for next week I think 393ranger might have a good date for the 29th of November. Not likely to stay frozen for a week but it's nice to see the ice coming.
I see some skim ice on the lake this AM :big-grin:

Just looked out the window and there is 2 (two) patches of skim ice just at the edge of the property. I'm located on the upper end of the lake. 2 mi. from causeway. Ken

Nice ND. I see some ice along the shore on the BackBay cam as well. If theis wind subsides, the lake may skim over. We got some serious cold in the forecast. :big-grin:

Hi Phil: You were right!!!!!! Woke this AM and there is skim ice from shore to shore. Hope I can get my garage to put the snow tires on today or tomorrow with the weeks forcast. My wife will never make it up the hill to the rink on Wed. without them. Didn't think we would need them this soon. Hard ice on the way......Ken

Now that it's light enough, it's a wee bit thicker that skim ice. Just down from me there is a huge flockof geese and they are sitting on the ice. Originaly thought it was open water down there but with glasses, I can see them walking, and even geese can't walk on water. Bad omen for the fuel bills, but great for the hard water fisherman. Never thick enough last year to try ice fishing in front of the house. The warm sping the old timers told me about must be true. Ken

Ice from shore to shore is a beautiful thing...couldn't stand on it though.

Lots of wet, heavy snow here last night and today - had nearly 12" in my driveway early this morning and it's still coming down. :x We need to lose the ice we have and start over.

Was that a pretty consistent 3.5"? Probably be hard to find a spot to fish around there tomorrow. :O I heard reports of 3-5" up in Milearm Bay.
Another cold night tonight - should add to it. Lot of ice for so early in the season. 8)
