Ice Out
I really do not want to spoil the ice fishing. I was curious with probably over 22 inches of ice by now with this extremely colder winter. How long would it take for Ice out? can anyone remember? Maybe we could see a awsome video of Ice out like 2010.

Re: Ice Out
My auger barely made it through when I was up there a couple weeks ago. Has anyone been having issues with this since? Might go up this weekend but would be unfortunate if I couldn't drill to water, lol.

Re: Ice Out
Richard Chapman told a friend of mine the latest he's ever seen the ice go out was May 3rd in the late 70's. Hope that's not the case this year!!

Re: Ice Out
Its really hard to judge ice out ..... a week or two of warm weather, wind, or rain can make a big difference.
I've got my fingers crossed for warm weather soon!

Re: Ice Out
I was thinking you could drill some shallow holes in the outline of the auger head so it would be able to go below the surface of the ice where you want your fishing hole drilled. Might have to spud/chip any gaps between the circles but seems like it would work.

Re: Ice Out
Talking about auger extentions. My son was in a shop in Troy, NY, the owner told him that he had 3 extentions for years and they are gone. You aren't the only ones with a lot of ice.

Re: Ice Out
March 15th 2013 --- I was fishing through the ice on Black Lake in the AM and out of my boat on the St. Lawrence in the afternoon. Not going to happen this year, I am willing to bet.

Re: Ice Out
Looks like a little melting has happened on the back bay cam. When do we start guessing ice out dates?
