Ice out

Post by Migrieb » Sat Apr 05, 2014 6:54 am

Anyone know when ice out is expected this year? We are planning an annual trip for opening day for crappie and pike...Seems ice out may be unusually late this year..

Ice is just about ready to leave! Upper 70s tomorrow just might do it. :D

Headed to the State walleye hatchery at Constantia, on Oneida Lake, tomorrow for a day helping out and playing tour guide. They got lots of fish and will be stripping eggs and filling jars tomorrow.
It's quite an operation to see. They are open daily from 8 to 3:30.

Phil,
Can you make a short video of the stripping of eggs with the walleyes??
Would love to see it!

Phil,
You are the man! I should have known that you would have taken care of this for the Black Lake folks!
Thanks for thinking of us.

I saw the lake in April of 93. It was high but not this high.

I have seen it about 12" higher than this. Late 70s - the water was over the Black Lake Road - about 1/2 mile towards Edwardsville from what is now Lakeside Treasures.
Hope things begin to recede soon. Lots of flooding and damage right now.
