Boat Launch

Post by tr21 » Thu Jun 19, 2014 2:39 pm

I see on the black face book that there is a problem. What happened since the end of may, when we were there last?

I went on the watertown paper site and all I see is a picture. Is the problem the silt on the south side or what? That has been a problem for some time.

No it's the docks. Nobody is adjusting them as the water level drops. Boaters are damaging their boats when dumping them in and trying to board them.

It has always amazed me how poor the OPRHP boat launch on Black Lake is. For comparison, their launch on Canadarago Lake, which is less than 1/4 Black Lake's size has a paved parking launch and a beautiful floating dock.
The local State Representative needs to start putting pressure on that agency to make major improvements.

Did they stop putting out the summer (larger) lighted buoy's also? Or can't they get there boat in at the launch. Day's are already getting shorter!

I fell sorry for anyone who has never been there before, not knowing the lake.

So what is the problem with the launch????
Is the ramp screwed up ?
I'm coming up soon and would like a forewarning so as to not damage anything.
Thanks

The dock is "fixed" on metal skids. It needs attention to move it in and out and the water rises and falls. It is the responsibility of the Parks Dept. and they grossly neglect it.
