Does anyone ever purposefully try and catch as many species in one day as they can?

I've had plenty of days where I catch four or five different species just by accident, but I wonder if it's possible to catch most of the options all in one day.

When inshore saltwater fishing, my fishing buddies and I try to catch as many species as possible. We have landed over 20 species in a trip, most that we want to catch and a few we don't. Depending on where you live, it is a big bragging right to catch an inshore slam. Seatrout, Redfish, Snook and Tarpon are usually the species that make a slam, you need 3 of the 4 which differ by region. On black lake, I go after smallmouth, largemouth and northern pike every time I go. Guess I could call getting all 3 in a day a Black Lake Slam!

Catching a largemouth, smallmouth, and a northern isn't too hard. On good days you can do that in less than an hour.

I think a true Black Lake Slam would have to include at least one type of panfish (crappie or perch maybe) and possibly even a walleye. If you really want a challenge, throw in a catfish.

If I catch a largemouth, smallmouth, Northern, panfish, walleye and a catfish in one day, I'll call it Black Lake Grand Slam! Any 4 of those species in one day would be great. That would make for a fun friendly fishing tournament, one fish per species gets to be measured, no culling. We can do it with catch and release by using photos on a measuring stick.

we typically see largemouth, smallmouth, rock bass, pike, crappie, sunnys, and perch on most days.. never had any luck with walleye or cats tho

We usually get crappie, sunny, perch, large and smallmouth, pike and the occasional bowfin... I'd like to know what kind of a slam would it be if you threw the elusive muskie in there??

to catch a muskie would be a grand slam alone in my book.
we normally catch small large mouth bass,perch,crappie occasional cat, bowfin and possibly a garpike.

If you use live bait you never know what you'll hook.
