Dash For Cash Tourney

Showed up on Friday. High of 85. Water temp on the main lake was around 74 degrees and was very green from the algae bloom. We fished the main lake and the back bay. In the back way the water was clearer, but still very warm. Fishing was decent and we caught a few nice 3.5lb smallies. Saturday fishing really slowed down, temps were still high.

Tourney day the fishing picked back up. We caught several legal fish and went in with a full live well. Overall the weights for the biggest fish of the hour seemed down from last year. Many people at the scaled shared our same mentality. We caught a bunch of legal size fish, but not many people caught the higher end heavier weight fish. Not sure what the winning weight was. Overall fishing was great!

It seemed like the bass were looking for a more finesse approach. Jigs were working well. Spinnerbaits.. not so much.

Just what I heard: 12.6 lbs. (top 3 fish) just short of 150 teams. He was looking for just over 150. So 4.2 lbs. average for the winners. Did not hear what the big fish was.

The biggest fish was 5.12 lbs. I am not positive but I thought I overheard it was a smallmouth. 20th place which was the money cut-off was at 9.13. So 12.6 to 9.13 over 20 places is a pretty tight gradient.
Unfortunately my team was only able to get 8lbs. Fishing in Lonesome bay had been good but the cold front dropped the water temp there by 5 degrees in one night. Needed to adjust the gameplan sooner then we did. It is a tricky time of year to fish as the lake is always transitioning at that time. O well, looking forward to next year already.

Like I said, I just thought I overheard that. I did see a lot of nice smallmouth weighed in though so it would not shock me if true.

Interestingly enough 144 entrants in 2015, and the biggest SM was a mere 3.85 lbs.

I will be up there for it. Where are you getting your weather info? I have this from the National Weather Service "A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Southwest wind around 8 mph."

Weather.com 10mph, yesterday I believe it showed 13, and if your seeing 8 it looks as though the wind is fading.
