Just curious as to what presentations are used in crappie fishing

Well, I've caught crappie on just about every presentation there is .... sometimes on purpose, and sometimes by accident.

My preferred method for catching them is a small jig tipped with a minnow or plastic grub under a float. There is just something so fun about seeing a bobber go down!!

I'm with Mr. Simon on this. Small tube jigs under floats are my "go-to". I am also with him on how to find them. If you have the ability to cover area, especially in May, drift using the current down shorelines casting small lures or jigs. When you find the crappie, target them with the bobbers and tube jigs or minnows.

Jig head / float / gulp = fish fry :D

Ditto, njmike. I use the 1" minnows. The gills love them, too.

Bobber and Tube Jig. Nothing like a lazy day of bobber watching. Of course I stink at catching Black Lake crappie. But I usually only make it up the last weekend in April, for a bullhead deal we do. But I have seen some locals really smash them up there.

I have not used them at BL yet but 1.5" gulp hellgrammites are killer on a few reservoirs near my house in NJ. They are also a great drop shot bait for smallmouth.

I use hot pink or chartreuse engineering string tied to a hot pink or chartreuse jig. 1" tails hanging off hook tipped with a minnow. For about 5.00 you get a ton of set ups. Or Minnie mites tipped with minnows. Both ways with bobbers. I also drop shot for crappie with 2 swivel hooks and a stick weight on the bottom, I use this method in the summer when they get harder to find.

Very interesting, now my choices will be either mono, fluoro, braid or engineer string. But I believe finding engineering string will be more
difficult to locate than the other three.
