Pike opener

Post by njmike » Sun May 01, 2016 10:11 pm

Anyone brave the rain for pike? I was out in my kayak for about 2 hrs and caught 3 bass but no pike. I may give it another go in the morning.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

You might want to wait til the season opens next Saturday. Pike and walleye opens the first Saturday in may. Not the 1st of may. Good luck next weekend!

Well that would explain the lack of boats. I misread the regs. What a new guy move that was. Haha. Anyway let me know how you guys do next week.

Don't feel bad, I always get the two confused as well. Ive always known its the first Saturday but my mind seems to have a glitch thinking its about to open on May 1. Every 1 in 7 years we would be right though!

The NJ regs always have a specific date, i.e. May 1st. so when I read the N.Y.regs I missed that it was the 1st Saturday. Glad I'm explaining it here and not to fish and game. Lol.
