Waldo, If you cannot get to the St Lawrence and are forced to only have Black Lake to target 'eyes. I would recommend the following :
1- Target during low light conditions
2-Focus on areas around Rocky points receiving wind, especially around drop offs and if you find weeds close to depth changes concentrate here.
3-Fish slooooowly, if you are not getting hung up (somewhat) frequently you are probably fishing to fast, believe it or not.
4- As far as presentations, my favorite for casting or drifting is a white roadrunner (1/8-1/4 oz) w/ 3-5in shiner dragged thru structure......again sloooooooooooowly. Oh yeah you can thank me later for the bonus Catfish (lol)
5-If trolling I love perch colored wally divers by Cotton Cordell.
Hope this helps...JimB
PS: By this time next week "livebait" and I will be invading our favorite spots.. Can't wait!
