Vacation Sept. 3-10

Back up for our yearly trip to the lake. 4 of us with 2 boats. Week proved much different than other years as the fish weren't in their normal locations we found previous years at the same time. Sat. afternoon was hot and sunny and I managed around 8 bass. Sun.-Wed were overcast with intermittent rain and good wind. Caught anywhere from 13-19 bass a day. Mixed bag of lg. and smallmouth. Most fish were undersized with anywhere from 2-4 a day being legal(none kept). Thurs. and Fri. were tough. Wind calmed down and switched direction and fish stopped biting. Worked hard for 10 a day and smallmouth vanished. That's 8hrs of fishing. Biggest lgmouth for the week between the 4 of us was 3lb 12oz and smallmouth was 2lb 14oz. Those were much smaller than other years. 1st year up with a new sidescan unit which was extremely cool. Found a couple smaller shoals off the shallower marked shoals and also interesting depressions in some marked shoals that look like they would hold fish. Hard time staying in position to fish them with 20mph wind though. Couldn't get a fish on a shoal without weeds present. Already looking forward to next year.
