Re: First Ice Contest
ND - How many inches of snow have fallen? Looks to be 3-4? Thanks for the updates; reading about ice makes me happy.

Re: First Ice Contest
Got about 4" but with the wind, we have 12-15" drifts up the driveway. Just a observation......The wind shifted 10 degrees, and for the last half hour, there is slush ice blowing down the lake and onto my shoreline. There are big waves, with white caps and if the water was 40, the slush would have melted it. The water therefore must be pretty cold. The sun is out right now and it still isn't melting the slush or skim ice. May be early ice. The warm spell may slow it down that they are predicting.

Re: First Ice Contest
Well, the cold has done it. The geese are sitting on the ice in front of the house. I have a picture of the flock with several walking around on the ice. Hope I can add the picture. First try at a picture.

December 5th and both cams are showing a frozen lake chris14race -- December 4th - you are on watch for the next 7 days. Hope tomorrow's little rain and 40 degrees doesn't take it out.

You bet There was an inch of ice today, where I checked. I'm thinking I'll be fishing by the end of this next week.

Re: First Ice Contest
Unfortunately I think this storm coming might mess up the ice formation. Going to be a heavy wet snow too which makes it harder to blow off.

Yep And there some 40+ deg weather on the way - so maybe, if we don't get too much, it'll wet through and freeze up with the next blast of cold.ShaneO19 wrote:Unfortunately I think this storm coming might mess up the ice formation. Going to be a heavy wet snow too which makes it harder to blow off.

The ICE IS IN........Just got back from getting a haircut and there were 9 fishermen out on the ice in front of Black Lake Marina. Earlier than last year. Hope it stays. Ken
