Let the countdown begin
Well it's that time of the year when we all are awaiting the bass opener. It looks like 53days and a wake up.
Hey Wildchildz if you see this post let me know when you will be at BL

Re: Let the countdown begin
Hey TR21 good to see your frozen fingers are working again, was that a long cold winter or what? I will be in Lake George for a week starting on the 14th of May. I'll be in BL for two in a row. Looking forward to seeing the whole gang. If you talk to Smokey say hi for me.

Re: Let the countdown begin
It's time for an update on the countdown. (Like any bass nut needs one) 24 and a wake up. Hey TR21, Terry has a secret weapon this year. He has Eric's bass boat. He can get from point A to point B quickly. Unlike the 45 min to the Indian River ride, with the old 9.9, I have a feeling records will fall this year.LOL

Re: Let the countdown begin
In about 4 and a half hours it will be June 1st. That means 19 days and a wake up. Looking forward to seeing the whole gang for another well deserved fishing vacation.
Somebody once told me that Black Lake was a quiet little drinking village, with a serious fishing problem. Is there any truth to that rumor? LOL

I've always said that legal drinking on the water is why people go to Black Lake ... the fishing is just a bonus.

The last I knew it is not legal to operate a boat when drinking. Its the same as DWI or DWAI in New York.

Tell that to the boaters who set up in that one cove all the time anchored.

Re: Let the countdown begin
The keyword to that is anchored. You are allowed to have open containers on a boat. The driver needs to be able to pass a sobriety test. Most of the boats you see anchored are cottage owners enjoying a day on the lake.

Re: Let the countdown begin
We are down to 14 days and a wake up.
Not to start anything.....but I think there are more fish length violations, than drinking and boat operation on BL. Look at the waste buckets in the fish cleaning stations. Lots of shorts. All cleaning stations should have the number 15" posted on BL. Have got into arguments with people (who can not read) telling me it's 12". I know somebody is just waiting to jump on this post to tell me that "It is 12" on some waters. You are right, it is on some NY waters. But not on Black Lake. Read the Fish and Game Regs.
Remember a few 15 and 16" fish make nice fish fry. Let the 14 and smaller grow up, any big ones keep on making little bass. If you catch a monster, Measure it, photo it, and let it go. Have a fiberglass cast made to hang it on the wall. They last forever. A real mounted fish won't last.

Here we go....six days and a wake up. This time next Saturday I won't be getting on the mower to do my lawn, I'll be ready to get into my bass boat. Lawn be danmed. LOL
You know this is a hard choice, Cut grass or go fishing. I'll let you know how this works out.
