Very interested in your progress Musky Fishing in Black Lake. Were you able to get a look at the fish that you had on? I know there are Muskies in the lake. I have only had hold of two that I know of in my life and that was back in the sixtys. Catch & Release!!!

Just a face full of teeth and a swirl. Top Water action worked well.
Famous,/ ifamous musky fisherman, Len Hartman wrote of his visits to BL for muskies back in the bad old days of fraudulent competition fo a Worlds Record musky. He and his wife spent time at the causeway catching muskies from shore!
That's a stunt for sure.
Len later confessed to buying muskies from native american commercial fisherman to enter contests against Art Lawton.

Guess you saw more than I did when I had hold of one. It was funny how it happened. My Dad, rest his fisherman soul, wanted to trade me a S3 Pearl surface Flatfish that he never had any luck on, for another lure. It was in the evening and almost dark. I made one cast and the pole bent in half and headed out of the bay. Never saw the fish - just pure power. Make it short - it broke the pole and I kissed my new lure away. Here's wishing you all the luck in your endeaver for the Muskies. Catch & Release!!!!

Gotta just keep plugging, (you need to upgrade the gear a bit though).
Tight lines and let'em go. Let 'em all go.

Updated my equipment that very day. Havn't had any luck with the big fish since. At my current age I don't think I would know how to handle one if it did strike. Here's good luck to all of you out there that do put in the hours after your pursuit. Catch & Release.

22 manhours on the hunt. Had 2 aggressive follows and 2 completely missed separate strikes. All action on topwaters. The 3 fish I got a look at looked to be in the mid 40" range.
One of the followers started to chase the figure 8 at the boat but never completed the 2nd turn before swimming away. That fish has a fresh lamprey sore just behind the top of her head.
Saw another sturgeon jump clear out of the water.

Hot and muggy. Some weed beds still producing bait fish.
Spent 10 hours on the water with First Mate ( net operator). Had 2 strong follows and lost 1 good fish. I am going barbless the final few trips this year and have lost 2 fish since the experiment began. Hmmmm.
Still, a great time on the water!

Actually better than most. The crazy high water has the fish concentrated in just a few spots and competing for food.
Phil, did you get the photo from our 2012 catch? it's my favorite pic.

Re: 2017 Musky production
I wonder if anyone has a theory as to where the muskies go after the weeds die.
We haven't dialed the fall bite in yet.
