fishing report 5-4 thru 5-11
I wanted to start this thread while at home on my computer. I will be posting water conditions and how we do for the days listed by phone, so they will be short. Please keep this thread on topic so folks reading can get the information they need without off topic subject matter. There will be three people in the boat so the numbers posted will reflect that number. Can't wait to get the boat in the water and switch into Black Lake mode where time starts to become meaningless. To all the other folks going up for the opener, good luck and be safe.

Re: fishing report 5-4 thru 5-11
Friday day one. Arrived at camp weather was nice, cloudy no rain. Informed at check in that high wind was expected. We talked with our neighbor and Mel (camp owner) and advised not to launch the boat. Hard decision but took the advice and left the boat on the trailer. Went out visiting, returned around 6:30PM and the lake was angery. I have never seen the white caps and blowing water across the lake. So tomorrow will launch the boat first thing AM and hunt for pike. Tight lines Bob-O

Saturday day two, season opener. Wind was moderate and picked up the later the morning got from the southwest. Water is clear to slight stain and 53F to 55F. We started south bay behind Bowman island. We caught one 23" two 25" and one 28" there. Moved to Lonesome bay, nothing there. Moved to Big bay caught one 28" fishing for crappie. We caught three crappie and hand full of perch with one keeper crappie. Wind picked up this evening so went to dinner with the neighbors, which they treated. Thanks Al and Gerrie for a very pleasant dinner out. Tight lines Bob-O

Day four, Monday, went out 7AM. Wind from north heavy. Water temp 56F. We went looking for crappie north of the bridge. We hit upper big bay, Mitchell bay and points around. No crappie to be found. Worked our way back south all around big island with not one crappie. The evening we had better luck, 3 pike south of bowman island, a few crappie and perch in the same area. Wind was now from the west and water temp was 61F. Wind layed down and bugs started to come out. Tight lines Bob-O

Re: fishing report 5-4 thru 5-11
We fished on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday between the bridge and the Big Island. The two of us caught 8 pike (between 24-36"), more than a combined total of 16 big smallies and largemouth, some bullheads, nice perch, and a gar. Our setups were 12lb test with wire leader using shiners.
Water level was high and wind was a little challenging at times.
We had a fantastic time!

Mopsny the wind is bad, we had a large boat here at camp go under. We also turned all our boats to face south. So wait, we had to wait last Friday and made the right choice. Wishn fishn we use Michigan stinger spoons in perch colors, also dardevel red and white and 5 of diamonds. All our fish were caught in the bays mostly around Bowman island and big bay in 6 FOW. We will post this evening after we go back out or decide to stay in. Tight lines Bob-O

Sounds like a great week. Thanks for the report.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
