Planning on fishing Milearm tomorrow, for Crappie and Walleye; and the north end on Saturday for Pike.
Anyone else?

This is good news Phil, hope your time on milearm is productive. Do you know how thick the ice is?

Planning an ice fishing trip sometime after new years

Post by is about to lose » Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:12 pm

i ve been to black lake before during the summer but never in the winter, and im guessing the ice will be thick enough for my side-by-side atv but i'd just like some opinion on when i should come up , i have the 1st-12th of Jan to play with , and only plan a 3 day trip, my buddy has a cottage so i have a place to stay so thats not an issue with making rez somewhere, just wondering if anyone with some experience of how the ice usually is that time of year could let me know tyvm

Got out for a few hours this morning and afternoon, on Milearm. Caught about 1000 "dink" perch. Not a good day, but fun for the first trip out and shaking out all the bugs from the gear.
Nearly 6" of good black ice in the bay.
Tomorrow will be better! :D
A few PICs anyway.

Got out today for a few hours - Had a lot of pike action - probably had 15 fish between the three of us. Two of them came home for dinner.

That's it for this week. Off to my daughter's in Rochester for Christmas next week - probably won't be back on the ice for 10 days or so -
